My research process is :

Understand the brief :

• Places like Meta are really clear. 
• Or perhaps a team has something very well defined
• There are the panic places where perhaps you need to define what is being tested or be more involved in the stimulus

Decided if Evaluative or Discovery or a combination of both

Establish who is responsible for what, and define the timelines

• Who is doing the stimilus, might be a combination of myself and designers. Am I testing my own stuff.
• Book all the essentials. Such as recruitment, rooms, viewing facilities, peoples diaries.
• Equally for quant work define a timeline. i.e. launch and close a survey etc
